Sharing from recent disappointed wedding album that fails and goes viral

I am pretty sure that you have heard of or seen the recent disappointed actual day wedding photo album posted by the bride herself. If you haven’t seen the album, do visit this link

Or simply google “jaclyn ying wedding photo” which will point you to numerous international coverage of this album that went viral.

I will not discuss about the importance of engaging a capable (whose style suits your taste) wedding photographer here; but to mention about 2 photos (fresh downloaded from the particular Facebook album) that appeared blueish in the album :

These two blue Avatar-ish photos were actually taken with Infrared camera, which is able to turn the foliage into “whitish” color, simulating a fall/winter scene. Sorry, provided that the photographer knows how to post-process it.

A good InfraRed photo should produce a vibrant blue sky with light-color foliage, which is how we have delighted our couples with such works over these years:

Besides investing in different set of gears, you will need to understand the principle behind the infrared spectrum and most importantly, be able to transform the output to the proper colored version (which might take us hours to come out with one photo sometimes).

So to speak, it’s very easy to give out Infrared photos to couple when you “just” need to get a infrared capable camera or lens filter. But to make sure that it does not look like you are shooting in an Avatar world; but to have some real world color elements, then it will take much more efforts.

And you will also need to read the scene to make sure that your capture provides a good platform for you to start editing. In this case, I was trying to edit the jpg version of the photo from the Facebook album and this is one of the version that I can accept:

Technical talk: Pardon me for the difference (from what we usually deliver), since the “original” photo has no texture on sky for manipulation, as well as the different custom white balance setup.

Anyway, this post is just to share some knowledge around – When you see some monotone-ish photo (can be blue or magenta) with light foliage/tree leaves, the photo is likely to be taken by an infrared setup. And usually you will see some weird skin tone if there is human factor inside the photo unless the photographer knows how to handle it.

That’s it…

Oh, last important point / tip to couple: Do engage an actual day wedding photographer who you get to see in person and communicate, instead of getting one from a bundle package who you have no idea who the photographer is.

Wedding Celebration of Dani and Cha in Brazil

10eyesGallery finally had another chance to shoot an actual day wedding in oversea after New Zealand.

Setting at Gramado, a mountain resort town in south of Brazil with strong influence of Bavarian feel – Alpine chalets, chocolatiers and artisan shops. The whole event space was amazing! I can’t imagine how popular will it be if there’s such place in Singapore. Not to forget the added advantage of chilling weather since it’s located on a mountain range – quite a distinctive difference especially when you are coming from scorching hot cities in Brazil during summer.

The dance floor opened soon after the dessert was served, where most of the actions and laughters were seen. Well, typical stereotypical vision for Brazilians will be only Samba & Capoeira when it comes to body movements; but I would certainly deny it as most of the guests can really dance well! I truly immersed myself in the music and dance, not for long before my body was tired (still recovering from jet lag) and retired myself from the floor at 2am. Yes, you heard me right… the party went on till 7am in the morning!

It’s a challenge to record a wedding ceremony which was fully “conducted” in Portuguese. But with years of experience and sense of capturing the moments, I could still manage to record the occasion as it was

It has been a while since we last updated this blog. Sorry that it’s not our practice to update regularly (but we are trying hard to do so!) as we have more commitments and dedication of time to the couples who had signed up with us… So to speak, sometimes we have forgotten that we have this space to share more of our works =)

And to share some casual talks about the shoot as well…

We “finally” took a picture of how our gears filled up our bags when we are out for bridal pre-wedding shoot. So both of us will usually have 5 cameras with no less than 8 lenses and 2 flashes during the fun outing.

It’s so fun that Andy and Jing Yun were smiling non stop when we were taking their shots with the most-photographed-tree-in-Singapore-wedding-photography here in Upper Seletar Reservoir.

Anyway, now it’s also the time to introduce our new family members on board – two newly launched Nikon D750 which both of us had purchased it last week. Well, another 5k+ of investment to strengthen our journalistic shots.

After using it to shoot its first wedding actual day few days ago, I would say… this “beast” is performing so well at high ISO. In layman terms, it means better/cleaner picture even at very low light condition.

*D750 | ISO5000 | F/2.8 | 1/125 sec at 200mm

Took this at Stamford Ballroom, under dim light condition when the couple was giving a warm thank you speech. Bride’s sister was touched by the words, with tears dropping down… which was wiped off within 2 seconds.

Thanks to the fast Auto Focus speed and good High ISO performance, this moment was captured perfectly.

Congratulations to any new couples who had been appreciating our works. Now we are more looking forward to deliver better shots with D750 in hands, cheers!

Actual Day: Robin & Kumiko

Robin and Kumiko called us during last year’s Christmas period, and would like to engage us for Pre-wedding, Soleminization and Actual day shoot.

In the subsequent 2 months, we met many times.. for Pre-wedding shoot, for album layout discussion, for Solemnization shoot, for Slideshow preview, and finally for Actual day. The whole experience is wonderful, and we felt really happy to be part of your wedding preparation.

After the wedding, Robin will be pursuing his PHD in Japan (with his beautiful wife, Kumiko). All the best to your new life journey…

Doris & Tian Hao Wedding Celebration

“After seeing your majestic landscape shots of New Zealand as well as the coverage of local wedding there, I’ve made up my mind to engage you as my photographer even before any vivid plan of wedding ceremony arrangement, during our presentation many months back.”

That’s the reply Tian Hao gave me when I congratulated him after knowing that he will be engaging me as his wedding photographer. And yes, we became closer after sharing some travel stories (and photos, definitely) together to a group of frequent travellers here.

Nevertheless, Doris is really a pretty bride and she knows how to pose perfectly in front of camera even though she is not a fan of selfie or to be featured in own travel photos. And of course Tian Hao is a good partner of his wife’s pose.

A wedding shot quite sometimes ago last year, and finally have time to share with all. May Tian Hao and Doris have a blissful wedding, cheers!
